Brake disc rotor HOPE Floating | Center Lock | black

The very popular HOPE Floating reel is popular with both performance oriented riders and those looking for something a little different. The reel is now also available in a Center Lock version. The wide braking surface makes it more compatible with other brake companies such as MAGURA and others. Outer ring - the braking surface is connected by rivets to the aluminium centre sleeve. It is a semi-floating disc, which allows axial movement of the outer ring - braking half of the disc. This floating design better copes with temperature changes on the outer ring, making it larger when heated and reducing the possibility of the disc bending under high loads.

Note

The rivet heads are positioned 1mm above the outer surface of the brake disc, this (on the rivet heads) makes the disc thicker/thicker. Each rivet is 16mm in diameter and their centre is 26.50mm below the top edge of the disc. Before installing, make sure you have sufficient room to use this disc, pay attention to any interference with the caliper mount, frame etc when moving the disc.

Be aware

The outer ring of the disc is connected to the inner sleeve by rivets and a spring washer to prevent noise. As the disc is semi-floating, there is still a small clearance between the rivet and washer in relation to other parts such as the outer ring and inner sleeve. During the use of the brake disc and as it wears, it is normal to notice some rotational play between the outer ring and the inner sleeve or rivets! However, this rotational clearance should not be more than 1mm, otherwise the disc will have to be replaced due to already high wear!

This behaviour of the brake disc (rotational play) is not a defect, but a manufacturing feature that allows the outer ring to move more freely in relation to the inner aluminium sleeve, thus making it more resistant to temperature changes between the outer and inner parts of the disc, which could otherwise cause it to bend.

The HOPE Floating disc is not compatible with HOPE V2 or TRIAL ZONE calipers!
