Brake disc rotor HOPE Floating Vented | black

HOPE Floating Vented is the highest version of the HOPE semi-floating disc. It is a specialty designed exclusively for HOPE Tech 4 V4 brakes. The HOPE Floating Vented disc is designed for the highest temperature, weight and speed loads. The 3.3mm thick outer steel ring is made up of three parts and the space between the braking surfaces is partially hollow, allowing ambient air to be forced between the braking surfaces as the disc spins, making it easier to cool the disc. The braking surface is connected by rivets to the aluminium centre bracket. It is a semi-floating disc, which allows axial movement of the disc braking surface. This floating design better copes with temperature changes on the outer ring, enlarging it when heated and reducing the possibility of the disc bending under high loads.

Note

The maximum tightening torque of the hub mounting screws supplied with the disc is 5Nm - do not exceed the maximum tightening torque as this could damage the aluminium sleeve and cause serious injury!

The rivet heads are positioned 1mm above the outer surface of the brake disc, this (on the rivet heads) makes the disc thicker/thicker. Each rivet is 16mm in diameter and their centre is 26.50mm below the top edge of the disc. Before installing, make sure you have sufficient room to use this disc, pay attention to any interference with the caliper mount, frame etc when moving the disc.

Be aware

The outer ring of the disc is connected to the inner sleeve by rivets and a spring washer to prevent noise. As the disc is semi-floating, there is still a small clearance between the rivet and washer in relation to other parts such as the outer ring and inner sleeve. During the use of the brake disc and as it wears, it is normal to notice some rotational play between the outer ring and the inner sleeve or rivets! However, this rotational clearance should not be more than 1mm, otherwise the disc will have to be replaced due to already high wear!

This behaviour of the brake disc (rotational play) is not a defect, but a manufacturing feature that allows the outer ring to move more freely in relation to the inner aluminium sleeve, thus making it more resistant to temperature changes between the outer and inner parts of the disc, which could otherwise cause it to bend.

The HOPE Floating disc is not compatible with HOPE V2, HOPE E4 or TRIAL ZONE calipers!
