Brake disc MAGURA MDR-P, 6-bolts

The MAGURA MDR-P semi-floating disc with steel braking surface and aluminium inner sleeve is designed for the most demanding applications such as enduro, downhill and electric bikes. The MAGURA MDR-P brake disc is available in 180mm, 203mm and 220mm diameters. The MDR-P disc has reduced pad wear and increased modulation of braking power. The MAGURA MDR-P disc increases braking performance by 10% to 20% (depending on diameter) compared to conventional discs. The semi-floating disc allows axial movement (in the direction of travel) of the braking surface relative to the inner aluminium carrier. This floating design better handles temperature differences on the outer ring relative to the center of the disc. When heated, the braking area increases, but the centre section is not affected and there is no disc wraping.

All weights listed below are exclusive of the 6 steel hub mounting screws included with the reel. These 6 screws weigh an additional 15g.

Note

The maximum tightening torque of the hub mounting bolts supplied with the disc is 4Nm - do not exceed the maximum tightening torque as this could damage the aluminium central carrier and cause serious injury!

Be Aware

Because the disc is semi-floating, there is still a small clearance between the rivet and the washer in relation to other parts such as the outer ring and the central carrier. During the use of the brake disc and as it wears, it is normal to notice some rotational play between the outer ring and the central carrier or rivets! However, this rotational clearance should not be more than 1mm, otherwise the disc will have to be replaced due to already high wear!

This behaviour of the brake disc (rotational play) is not a defect, but a manufacturing feature that allows the outer ring to move more freely in relation to the aluminium central carrier, thus making it more resistant to temperature changes between the outer and central carrier of the disc, which could otherwise cause it to bend.

Do not use Center Lock reducers on MAGURA MDR-P discs. Tightening the nut of the Center Lock reducer could cause damage to the aluminium central carrier!
