Brake lever

• brake lever body is made of a special material called MAGURA Carbotecture, which MAGURA has been developing for several years for its MAGURA MT and HS brakes
• MAGURA Carbotecture is a blend of medium-length carbon fibers and special high-tech polymers, making the MAGURA LOUISE ELITE lever lightweight yet extremely strong
• ergonomic MAGURA LOUISE ELITE brake lever, with its very comfortable grip, delivers a high level of braking power
• compared to the MAGURA MT brake family (e.g., the MT7 PRO model), the end lever is positioned slightly further from the handlebars in its default setting, which is suitable for people with medium-length or longer fingers
• lever blade is connected to the lever body with a rivet, so the rivet must be removed to replace the end lever
• clamp that secures the lever to the handlebars is made of Carbotecture, and the lever can be removed from the handlebars without removing the grips or shifters
• handlebar clamp can be fitted with an adapter for mounting SHIMANO or SRAM shifters/seatpost controls (sold separately) directly onto the brake lever clamp
• handlebar clamp must be snapped onto the handlebar by applying pressure, or slid on from the side if no other components, such as shifters, are in the way
• handlebar clamp has no sharp edges on its surface, making it very safe for the rider and significantly reducing the risk of injury
• precisely engineered and tested hydraulic radial system, ensuring smooth operation and responsive braking using MAGURA Royal Blood mineral oil, proven over many years
• larger volume of oil in the lever chamber (compared to MAGURA MT series brakes) ensures smooth brake operation and performance even when the pads are worn down to the recommended minimum
• the lever is equipped with an EBT bleed screw Torx T25 (Easy Bleed Technology) - for easy bleeding (see video below)
• on the MAGURA LOUISE ELITE brake lever, the distance between the lever and the handlebars can be adjusted using a torx T25 wrench
• hose is connected to the lever using the unique MAGURA Easy Link mechanism (Plug & Play for bikes), which eliminates the need to bleed the brakes after installation (if provided the hose is not shortened)
• new MAGURA Easy Link connection has the same diameter as the hose itself, so there is no need to cut or remove the end cap when routing the hose through the frame
• hose fitting from the lever now runs parallel to the handlebars to reduce the chance of it tearing or being damaged in a crash, thus maintaining a cleaner look at the handlebars
• ATTENTION! The hose connection to the lever now has no rubber or plastic cover
• brake lever is compatible with the BOSCH ABS system (intermittent braking similar to that in cars), which provides better traction control on heavy e-bikes
• brake lever is equipped with a large 12mm radial piston—the piston is pushed in the same direction as the brake lever = excellent control of braking power (modulation)

Brake caliper

• MAGURA LOUISE ELITE caliper is equipped with 4 separate 17mm pistons
• MAGURA LOUISE ELITE 4-piston caliper features black brake piston nuts / bore caps
• caliper is equipped with magnetic Xchange pistons that hold the pads in place, eliminating the need for a spacer spring between the pads
• rotating banjo brake hose connection using a Torx T25 wrench, allowing the hose to be routed from the caliper in the correct direction
• Post Mount (PM) brake caliper mounting
• compared to the MAGURA MT7 or MT5 calipers, this caliper now has a larger gap between the pads and the rotor, making it easier to adjust everything and preventing the caliper from rattling or rubbing against the pads
• caliper is designed for 2mm MAGURA rotors
• caliper comes with MAGURA 9.S pads, specifically a model where the pads are connected into a single unit via two pistons, eliminating the need for locking screws
• MAGURA 9.S pad compound is organic (containing less than 30% metal) and designed for long descents and, if applicable, e-bikes
• caliper is made from a single piece of forged aluminum, eliminating the performance loss associated with split calipers
• caliper features a modified bleed port and a screw for closing it (for an 8 mm wrench)
• bleed port must be fitted with a bleed valve for bleeding!

Brake hose

• brake comes with a 5 mm diameter kevlar hydraulic hose
• hose is connected to the caliper and is filled with MAGURA Royal Blood mineral oil
• hose end that must be connected to the MAGURA LOUISE lever has the same diameter as the hose, i.e., 5 mm
• hose is equipped with a plug, which must be removed before connecting it to the lever
• length of the uncut hose is 2200 mm

Brake disc

• MAGURA MDR-C brake disc for MAGURA disc brakes
• compared to the MAGURA Storm HC model, it has an additional connecting element (inner ring)
• more connecting ribs extending from the center of the disc to the braking surface reduce vibration
• The greater mass of metal is better able to absorb heat and dissipate it from the brake pads
• brake disc is designed for installation to the hub using 6 bolts
• this disc is suitable not only for any MTB bike or city bike but especially for any electric bike or eBike
• the disc is equipped with a small hole for placing a magnet for a speed sensor for electric bikes (magnet sold separately)
• default disc width = 2.0mm
• minimum disc width = 1.8mm

• total weight of 1pc brake is 250 g, including the full length of the hose, without brake pads (MAGURA 9.S brake pads = +25 g)

ATTENTION - MAGURA Easy Link!

MAGURA LOUISE ELITE BRAKE IS DELIVERED DISCONNECTED! The caliper comes with a hose attached and both parts are pre-filled with Royal Blood mineral oil. The lever is supplied separately but is also filled with Royal Blood mineral oil. Using the hose end and the so-called MAGURA Easy Link, the hose can then be connected to the lever and the brake is immediately ready for use without the need for bleeding! Both the lever and the hose leading from the caliper are secured against fluid leakage during transport by a special cap, which must be removed before connecting.

WARNING!

Bleed the MAGURA LOUISE ELITE brake caliper using the bleed valve!
The bleed valve is available for purchase separately, including the plug!

Before connecting the hose and lever using the MAGURA Easy Link, always remove the shipping plugs from both the lever and the hose.
These plugs are intended solely for shipping purposes when the system is disconnected. They are not intended for use during normal operation of the brake system!

WARNING!

The MAGURA LOUISE ELITE brake caliper is not compatible with MAGURA MDR-S 2.5 brake rotors!
Use this brake caliper only with rotors that have a standard width of 2.0 mm, such as the MAGURA MDR-S 2.0, MDR-P, MDR-P Center Lock, MDR-C, MDR-C Center Lock, or STORM HC models.
The minimum rotor width is 1.8 mm! Do not exceed the minimum rotor width!

WARNING!

For proper installation of the brake, carefully read the manual supplied with each brake!
Observe the specified maximum torque values for all components of the MAGURA LOUISE ELITE brake!

WARNING!

Use MAGURA Royal Blood mineral oil as the brake fluid.
Never use DOT fluid, as it will damage the seals, rendering the brake unusable and requiring replacement!

WARNING!

To ensure proper brake performance, it is always necessary to perform the so-called bed-in process, i.e., the process of pre-seating the pads and discs.

The process is as follows. Accelerate the bike to approx. 20 km/h and then brake to a speed of approx. 5 km/h. Repeat the process at least 20 times (a maximum of 30 times is sufficient) for each brake (front and rear) separately! After this process, the pads should be bedded-in (slightly worn), the disc should be slightly worn (sanded), and the brake should have optimal braking performance, which will increase slightly over time with each meter braked (not traveled). This process will ensure high-quality and proper brake performance.

5-year warranty against leaks

MAGURA offers a 5-year warranty on leaks! MAGURA guarantees the FIRST OWNER a 5-year warranty against leaks in the brake lever, caliper and pistons if the brake is installed on the bike as an original accessory or purchased as an additional part from an official MAGURA dealer. This warranty is valid for 5 years from the date of purchase. Registration is not required to confirm the validity of this 5 year warranty!
