Disc brake HOPE Tech 4 EVO TR4, kevlar hose, silver-red

The HOPE Tech 4 EVO TR4 brake builds on the excellent HOPE Tech 4 E4 brake. The HOPE Tech 4 EVO brake lever uses 2 piston seals and 2 sliding rings to stabilize the piston. This reduces friction and allows the piston inside the lever to move more precisely. The HOPE Tech 4 EVO end lever is mounted on bearings, which reduces lever wobble and friction. The smooth operation of the HOPE Tech 4 EVO end lever reduces the load on the forearm when squeezing the lever. HOPE Tech 4 EVO offers three versions of end levers - STANDARD, CONTROL, and POWER. Each offers different options for power delivery and overall force. Compared to the E4, the HOPE TR4 brake caliper is smaller on the sides for easier installation on frames. The reduction in size of the caliper has also resulted in a reduction in weight. The brake caliper has hybrid stainless steel-phenolic brake pads with low friction, long life, and resistance to temperature changes. The HOPE TR4 brake caliper now has two 16mm pistons and two 17mm pistons, combining large and larger pistons just like the GR4 brake caliper.

Brake lever HOPE Tech 4 EVO

• the brake lever body is manufactured on CNC machines from 2014 T6 aluminum alloy
• ergonomic aluminum end lever with super-smooth lever action thanks to roller bearings
• the end lever is equipped with small dimples at its end for firm contact between the finger and the surface of the lever under any conditions.
• the end lever have increased hook at its end to keep the finger in place even under extreme pressure
• thanks to the "snap-on" handlebar clamp, its profile is reduced and it does not contain any protruding screws
• the lever can be combined with adapters for mounting SRAM or SHIMANO shifters, or for controlling a dropper post directly on the brake lever clamp with a tilt range of 30°.
• the lever is specifically left or right, and you need to purchase the correct model for its placement
• the lever can be removed from the handlebars without removing the grips or shifters
• precisely engineered and tested hydraulic axial system using DOT 5.1 brake fluid
• the HOPE Tech 4 EVO brake lever allows you to adjust the distance of the lever (REACH) from the handlebars and the lever stroke (BPC) without the need for tools (using adjustment screws on the end lever)
• expansion tank lid is available in various color combinations
• adjustment screws for setting the BPC and REACH of the lever are available in various color combinations

A new cam designed to decrease the free lever stroke while maintaining the feel and modulation in the braking zone — a key feature of the Tech 4 brakes. The result is a slightly firmer feel at the bite point, followed by a gentle rise in power through the braking zone, further enhancing brake modulation.

The brake bleeding process has been simplified and is much cleaner than previous HOPE lever models, which will please every mechanic. The HOPE Tech 4 EVO brake lever has a bleed screw that allows you to connect the bleed funnel without having to remove the expansion tank cap.

The 9.5 mm piston of the HOPE Tech 4 EVO brake lever is sealed with one conical seal and one O-ring. The piston is now equipped with two slide rings, which stabilize the piston in the lever chamber against wobbling, thereby reducing friction and allowing the piston to move more precisely inside the lever. As a result, the lever moves very smoothly and does not strain the forearm with unnecessary resistance from the end lever.

With the HOPE Tech 4 EVO brake lever, it is now possible to replace the end lever with a different variant. The HOPE Tech 4 EVO lever is normally supplied with a STANDARD end lever, which is the most suitable type for most riders, hands, riding styles, and power delivery. However, this model can be replaced with, for example, the longer POWER variant or, conversely, the shorter CONTROL model. These levers can be purchased separately, and their differences are listed below.

Brake caliper HOPE TR4

• compared to the E4 model, the width and cover nut of the HOPE TR4 caliper have been changed, making the caliper narrower and more compatible with more bike frames
• like the lever, the HOPE TR4 brake caliper is manufactured on CNC machines from 2014 T6 aluminum alloy
• the HOPE TR4 brake caliper is made from a single piece of CNC-machined aluminum, eliminating the loss of performance associated with split calipers
• the overall stiffness of the HOPE TR4 brake caliper has been increased to prevent loss of braking performance compare to E4 caliper
• the caliper is equipped with a spacer spring between the brake pads
• the HOPE TR4 caliper uses the same brake pads as the HOPE GR4 caliper (same as the earlier HOPE V4 caliper model)
• the brake pads are secured in the caliper with a locking screw
• HOPE TR4 brake caliper comes with two sets of pads with different compounds, so you can choose the one that suits you best
• these are versions of pads where the pad is connected into one via 2 pistons on each side of the brake caliper
• swivel banjo brake hose connection, which allows the hose to be directed away from or toward the wheel from the caliper
• post mount or PM brake caliper mounting
• precisely engineered and tested hydraulic system using DOT 5.1 brake fluid

The HOPE TR4 brake caliper is a 4-piston caliper, i.e. it contains a set of 4 independent pistons. The HOPE TR4 brake caliper is equipped with 2x large 16mm pistons and 2x larger 17mm pistons, which together provide the brake with high braking performance in all situations. The pistons are so-called hybrid pistons, made of smooth stainless steel and filled with phenolic inserts that absorb increased thermal stress. Thanks to the larger pistons, the HOPE TR4 caliper offers a 6.5% increase in performance compared to the HOPE E4 model!

Hose

• the brake is supplied with a kevlar hydraulic hose with a diameter of 5 mm.
• the length of the uncut hose is 2000 mm
• the package also includes parts that you can use to reconnect the hose after cutting it to the desired length

Recommended disc

• combine the brake with HOPE Floating or HOPE Fixed brake discs
• recommended discs are available in diameters of 140, 160, 180, 200, 203, and 220mm

WARNING!

The HOPE TR4 caliper is not compatible with HOPE Floating Vented brake discs!
Only combine HOPE TR4 brake caliper with HOPE Floating discs (default width 1.8 mm) or HOPE Fixed discs (default width 2.3 mm)
The minimum thickness (disc wear limit) is 1.5 mm. Do not exceed the minimum disc thickness!

WARNING!

For proper installation of the brake, carefully read the manual supplied with each brake!
Observe the specified maximum tightening torques for all HOPE Tech 4 EVO TR4 brake components!

WARNING!

Use DOT 5.1 brake fluid (or DOT 4) as the brake medium.
Never use mineral oil, as it will damage the seals and the brake will have to be completely cleaned and resealed!

WARNING!

To ensure proper brake performance, it is always necessary to perform the so-called bed-in process, i.e., the process of pre-seating the pads and discs.

The process is as follows. Accelerate the bike to approx. 20 km/h and then brake to a speed of approx. 5 km/h. Repeat the process at least 20 times (a maximum of 30 times is sufficient) for each brake (front and rear) separately! After this process, the pads should be bedded-in (slightly worn), the disc should be slightly worn (sanded), and the brake should have optimal braking performance, which will increase slightly over time with each meter braked (not traveled). This process will ensure high-quality and proper brake performance.

WARNING!

Sintered / metallic brake pads with bedding-in up to 2x as long as organic pads! With sintered pads, pay extra attention to the bed-in process before using the pads, which is much more important with this type of pad.
