Brake caliper HOPE RX4+, Flat Mount Front 70mm, +20mm, red
The HOPE RX4+ brake caliper is designed for cyclocross, road, gravel, and XC or cross-country bikes. The HOPE RX4+ Flat Mount front caliper is designed for front wheels without the need for an adapter if the fork has a 70 mm hole spacing. By using this caliper, you can use a +20 mm larger brake disc (compared to the standard version of the HOPE RX4+ Flat Mount brake caliper). The HOPE RX4+ caliper can be connected to the existing brake levers on your bike. HOPE has transferred its many years of experience to cyclocross, road cycling, and gravel bikes. The HOPE RX4+ is a 4-piston brake caliper milled from a single piece of aluminum. The stronger monolithic caliper made from a single piece provides an unmatched braking feel without loss of braking power and excellent power modulation.
- the HOPE RX4+ caliper is made as an extension option for your existing brake levers
- the HOPE RX4+ caliper is available in a version for mineral oil but also DOT brake fluid
- slim 4-piston lightweight design
- one-piece metal construction creates a stiffer caliper that increases braking performance
- pads can be removed from the caliper from both the top and bottom
- caliper is made from one piece of CNC machined 2014 T6 aluminum
- improved brake hose connection
- 2 types of pads included (Road blue + All Conditions red)
Dimensions
- piston diameter (small) = 14 mm
- piston diameter (large) = 16 mm
- spacing between brake caliper mount for attaching to frame / fork / adapter = 70 mm
- increase in brake disc diameter = +20 mm (compared to standard HOPE RX4+ brake caliper, Flat Mount)
Weight
- brake caliper HOPE RX4+, Flat Mount Front 70 mm, +20 mm = 91 g (without brake pads and hose fittings)
- brake pads HOPE = 26 g (spring + locking pin + R-clip)
- hose fittings = 5 g (olive + hose insert + shroud nut + brass seal)
- bolt for tightening to frame / fork = 14 g (2x M5 bolt + 6x washer)
Connecting and installing the hose to the HOPE RX4+ caliper
Before attaching the HOPE RX4+ caliper, remove the original caliper and hose fitting at the caliper. Always use the original HOPE fittings to connect the hose to the HOPE RX4+ caliper! The fittings for connecting the hose to the caliper are included in the caliper package. Install the HOPE fittings on the original hose and connect to the caliper according to the instructions supplied with the caliper. If you are unsure, have a professional service technician or Your HOPE brake dealer install the caliper!
HOPE Flat Mount Adapter Selection
Adapters for attachment to fork / bike frame, not included! For the correct choice of adapter for your bike and disc diameter, we recommend following the selection guide in the HOPE RX4+ Caliper Selection Guide.

Important information
- Read the following warnings carefully!
- Failure to follow these warnings may result in injury or death!
- Failure to follow the warnings below may void your warranty!
WARNING!
We recommend combining HOPE RX4+ caliper with HOPE Floating or HOPE Floating Road discs (default width 1.8 mm).
The minimum thickness (disc wear limit) is 1.5 mm. Do not exceed the minimum disc thickness!
WARNING!
For proper installation of the brake, carefully read the manual supplied with each brake!
Observe the specified maximum tightening torques for all HOPE RX4+ caliper components!
WARNING!
For the RX4+ brake caliper version for DOT fluid, use DOT 5.1 brake fluid (or DOT 4) as the brake medium.
For the RX4+ brake caliper version for mineral oil, use mineral oil as the brake medium.
Never mix different types of brake fluid inside the brake! Mixing different types of fluid can damage the seals, and the brake will need to be completely cleaned and resealed!
Never mix up the type of brake fluid (DOT 5.1 or DOT 4 with mineral oil - and vice versa) inside the brake! Mixing them up will damage the seals and the brake will need to be completely cleaned and resealed!
WARNING!
To ensure proper brake performance, it is always necessary to perform the so-called bed-in process, i.e., the process of pre-seizing the pads and discs.
The process is as follows. Accelerate the bike to approx. 20 km/h and then brake to a speed of approx. 5 km/h. Repeat the process at least 20 times (a maximum of 30 times is sufficient) for each brake (front and rear) separately! After this process, the pads should be bedded-in (slightly worn), the disc should be slightly worn (sanded), and the brake should have optimal braking performance, which will increase slightly over time with each meter braked (not traveled). This process will ensure high-quality and proper brake performance.
WARNING!
Sintered / metallic brake pads with bedding-in up to 2x as long as organic pads! With sintered pads, pay extra attention to the bed-in process before using the pads, which is much more important with this type of pad.
